Champagnat Hall, Foy's third dormitory

In a 1966 photo, Richard Foy stands in a parking lot with Champagnat Hall dormitory in the background.  The size of dormitories built was based on the college's ability to borrow for the mortgage.  The first, Sheahan Hall, housed 120 students; the second, Leo Hall, housed 300 students; and Champagnat Hall housed 480 students in a ten story tower.  Each dormitory was built on a bluff overlooking the Hudson River, so that every student had a river view out of his/her window.

The parking lot was developed into the central mall when parking spaces were developed on the periphery of campus.
