The floor of the bed slanted slightly towards the center of the area.
After filling in certain trenches, the floor was surfaced with macadam.
The concrete walls were further than normal from the playing courts, but
tennis balls tended to roll back towards the players. A chain link
fence was added to forestall accidents. Through the trees at the
upper left can be seen wires along the railroad tracks, and the open area
between the trees shows some trees on the opposite bank of the Hudson
River.
