Peter Smith's tragic death in 2003
 

Peter Smith, of Mullahorn, County Cavan married Fiona Concannon, daughter of John and Rita Concannon on 21 June 2002.

Peter was a great fan of auto road rallies, where drivers attempt to traverse the route in exact times set beforehand, but not via speeding.  Peter with his best friend and their wives traveled to Pennsylvania to watch a rally.  The boys stood along the line of travel, while the wives stood across the street conversing.

A participant lost control of his car and drove directly into the two young men.  Both were killed.  Peter died on 10 May 2003, just one month short of the couple's first wedding anniversary.
