The Morley family is the glue which connects several families.. Brigid Morley ( 1855 -1903) married Patrick Foy and lived in Garryedmond. Most of their children emigrated to the United States. Cecelia Morley (1854 - 1920) married Daniel Murray and lived in Lissaniska. Most of their children also emigrated to the United States. Ellen Morley (1861 - 1926) married John Sweeney and emigrated to Tampa, Kansas. Her brother Luke Morley sent her a series of letters over the years which contain valuable information about the Morleys, the Murrays and the Foys. Maria Morley )abt 1854 - 1923)married William Hunt and emigrated to Chicago. Many of the "Morley boys" settled in and around New York. Jack and Mike operated grocery stores in Yonkers, New York. Thomas Joseph Morley's adopted daughter, Mary Ellen was married to Richard Foy. When a widower, Thomas Joe married the widow Bridget Agnes O'Boyle Drury, and the Drury family was included in the clan. The Concannons arrived later to take over Jack's store, and Michael Morley arrived to take over Mike's store and develop a successful restaurant and catering business. Julia Morley married Michael Lyons. Of their seven children, five girls emigrated to the US in the 1950s and their families remain in the New York City area. Only Eileen and Seamus remain in Ireland.

This obituary was forwarded to me by Eileen Foy Zysk in early July 2009. It was probably published in The Irish Echo, the dominant Irish newspaper in New York City. At the time of his death, Patrick Morley and his family lived at Decatur Avenue, just off Fordham Road, Bronx NY ▼ |
