The Foys and Marist College

Our Lady Seat of Wisdom Chapel was built by the Marist Brothers themselves in 1952-1953.  It was the first circular Catholic  chapel in the USA ===►►

 

 

The Chapel was renovated in 1973 and again in 2003.  It remains the gem of the buildings on the Marist College campus. ===►►

 

◄◄===  The only three Presidents in Marist College history:  Linus Richard Foy (1958-1979), Brother Paul Ambrosem, founding president (1943-1958) and Dr. Dennis Murray (1979-present)

 

 
◄◄===  On October 11, 2003, a group of townhouses was named in honor of Linus Richard Foy, President Emeritus.

◄◄===  The Marist Campus lies along the Hudson River, a great natural resource.  Crew was the first varsity sport at Marist. ◄◄===  Sheahan Hall was the first dormitory built during the Foy era.  It opened in 1962.

Foy presided over 21 commencement ceremonies from 1959 through 1979. ===►►

 

 

Champagnat Hall was the third dormitory constructed in the Foy presidency.  It stood ten stories and houses 480 students.  Opened in 1965.  ===►►
