<<===  This map, scanned from the 1999 Rand McNally  shows the eastern portion of Kansas where the Berrys and Foys settled.  Mary Foy Mullin thought the Berrys settled in Marion County, near Newton, about half-way to Wichita, but we have no record of their homesteading there. But the Berrys may have been headed there along the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fee railroad by advertisements and inducements provided by the AT&SF.   It seems more likely that they soon settled near Vine Creek, or just north of present route 70 from Salina to Junction City.  William and Anne Foye's pictures were taken in Miltonvalle, and their chldren's pictures were taken in  Minneapolis, KS.    All of our relatives left Vine Creek, which now is only a cemetery, some settling in Salina, others in Junction City, and others in Kansas City.

Margaret Briody, wife of William McCue, mother of Paul Peter McCue.  From the hairstyle and style of dress, Margaret Phillips judges this portrait to be a wedding portrait (circa 1870).  Margaret was born 15 Aug 1847 ===>>
