| The Aphrodite was designed by Bath Iron Works, a Maine firm, but we know that Stanford White of the architectural firm of McKim, Mead and White designed the staterooms and Payne's private quarters. White also advised Payne on acquiring art work for use in Payne's city home, and designed the New York City home Payne gave to his nephew Payne Whitney as a wedding present, but White was dead before the Esopus operation began. photo received from Payne
